Children's Privacy
How Easy Language (Tomojoyo Digital) protects the children who use our apps, and how we meet COPPA, the Google Play Families Policy, and the App Store Kids Category requirements.
1. Our commitment
Nearly everyone who uses our apps is a preschool or primary-school child. We treat that as a responsibility, not a market opportunity.
This page complements the Privacy Policy with child-specific detail. Where the two could be read differently, the reading that protects the child prevails.
2. Standards we follow
| Rule | Region | How we comply |
|---|---|---|
| Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) | United States | We collect no personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. Accounts are created by adults only. |
| Google Play Families Policy | Global (Play Store) | No ad SDKs, no third-party analytics, no advertising identifiers, and a parental gate on external links and purchases. |
| App Store Kids Category guidelines (§1.3 & §5.1.4) | Global (App Store) | No third-party advertising, no third-party analytics, no ungated external links, and no collection of children’s data for commercial purposes. |
| Indonesian Law 27/2022, Articles 25–26 | Indonesia | Children’s data is processed only with parental or guardian consent, and only in the smallest amount necessary. |
| GDPR Article 8 & GDPR-K | Europe & UK | Children below the digital age of consent in their country may only use the Services through an account created by a parent. |
3. What you will not find in our apps
We keep this list specific so you can verify it yourself:
- No advertising — no banners, interstitials, rewarded video, or paid third-party cross-promotion.
- No third-party analytics — no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Meta SDK, TikTok SDK, or anything similar.
- No chat or social features — a child cannot send messages, post comments, or be contacted by other users.
- No user-generated content that other children can see.
- No open external links — every link out of the app sits behind a parental gate.
- No impulse purchases — all purchases pass through a parental gate and the official store payment flow.
- No requests for personal data from a child — the apps never ask a child for a full name, address, school, or phone number.
- No dark patterns — no alarming countdowns, no social pressure, no misleading buttons.
4. Children’s data we process
We process the smallest amount of children’s data needed for the app to match content to a child’s level:
| Data | Required? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname or initials | Yes | We recommend against full names. Any nickname works. |
| Approximate age or school year | Yes | A range only, used to pick difficulty. Never a full date of birth. |
| Avatar | No | Choose a built-in illustration, or your own photo which stays on the device. |
| Learning progress | Automatic | Scores, levels, and badges. Used to resume lessons, never for commercial profiling. |
| Speaking practice audio | Optional | Processed momentarily, then deleted. See Privacy Policy §9. |
5. Parental consent
We obtain parental consent before any child data is processed on our servers, as follows:
- 1
An adult registers
The sign-up form is addressed to a parent or guardian, requires a working email address, and includes a declaration that the registrant is at least 18 years old.
- 2
Email verification
We send a confirmation link to that address. A new account can only store child data once the link is opened — a step a young child would struggle to complete without your knowledge.
- 3
Child profiles come afterwards
A child profile can only be created from inside a verified parent account.
- 4
Consent can be withdrawn any time
Deleting a child profile stops processing of that child’s data and removes it from our systems.
For features needing device permissions — microphone, camera, gallery — additional consent is given through the operating system dialog and can be revoked at any time in device settings.
6. The parental gate
A parental gate is a short challenge that must be completed before the app opens anything not meant for a child. We use one for:
- Opening the purchase or subscription screen.
- Opening links to external websites, including these policy pages.
- Opening the email app to contact support.
- Entering account settings and data deletion menus.
The gate asks something requiring reading and arithmetic beyond the app’s target age — a two-digit multiplication, or tapping written digits in sequence. It does not replace parental supervision, but it does prevent a child from passing through by accident.
7. Parents’ rights
As a parent or guardian you hold full rights over your child’s data:
- Review everything we store about your child.
- Correct inaccurate details straight from the profile screen.
- Delete a child profile, or the entire account and its contents.
- Refuse further collection while continuing to use the app offline.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without giving a reason.
All of these can be exercised from inside the app, or by emailing easylanguage.pare@gmail.com. Deletion instructions are on the Delete Account & Data page.
8. Content safety
- All material — text, images, audio, and animation — is produced or curated by our own team and reviewed before it ships.
- No content is pulled automatically from the open web or third-party feeds.
- No violence, no excessive fright, no age-inappropriate themes.
- Religious material is presented in a learning context and can be selected or skipped by the parent.
- Content updates are delivered through our own pipeline, and every package is reviewed before release.
9. How the apps are funded
Since we show no ads and sell no data, our apps are funded simply and transparently: some are entirely free, and others offer a one-off purchase or a subscription paid by a parent through Google Play or the App Store.
Children are never the target of an offer. Every prompt to buy is addressed to the parent and sits behind the parental gate.
10. Getting in touch
If you have questions about child protection, want to review your child’s data, or suspect data was collected without your consent, contact easylanguage.pare@gmail.com. We reply within 7 business days.
